The nap and Ramadan, special confinement

This year, Ramadan began on Friday, April 24, 2020.

A date that varies every year depending on the Islamic calendar as well as the phases of the moon. Muslims will have to refrain from eating and drinking during the day and during the entire holy month.

What does that mean for this year ?

In this time of lockdowns, it is difficult for Muslims around the world to be reunited with their families, to help those most in need, to share moments of conviviality or even to freely practice their traditions and rituals.

What about health ?

It is difficult to fast for several hours without endangering one’s health.

When you go through this holy month you must therefore get up at around 4:00 in the morning to have breakfast and start the  fast. Most people tend to have a really long day ahead of them.

As you will have understood, at the beginning of the holy month, the body is very disturbed and the nights are short. Inevitably, fatigue accumulates little by  little and sleep deprivation begins.

However, it is strongly recommended that fasters take a nap during Ramadan to compensate for this daily night sleep loss. This effective nap can be done at the end of your workday or during the lunch break. But be careful, to practice a good micro-nap, it is important to respect the recommended time so as not to disturb your night’s sleep.
